Vice President of the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), Director of International Centre for Higher Education Innovation Under the Auspices of UNESCO, Director of SUSTech Academy of Finance and Economics, Chair Professor at SUSTech, and Visiting Chair Professor at Peking University.


As a distinguished scholar in finance, Professor Jin previously served as Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at Harvard Business School, Executive Director of the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies at Harvard University, Full Professor at Sa?d Business School of the University of Oxford, Research Fellow at the University of Oxford China Centre. At Peking University, he held the positions of Chair Professor and Head of the Finance Department, Associate Dean of Guanghua School of Management, Founding Director of the National Center for Financial Research, and Associate Head of the Division of Economics and Management. (Peking University operates under an academic division system, with the Division of Economics and Management overseeing Guanghua School of Management, National School of Development, School of Economics, HSBC Business School, and Institute of Population Research).


Professor Jin is a member of the 13th and 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and a member of its Economic Committee, as well as a member of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Jiusan Society. His other major social positions include Rotating Chairman of the Global Corporate Governance Colloquia (GCGC), an academic alliance composed of 12 leading universities, including Harvard, Oxford, and Peking University. He is also Vice Chairman of China Management Science Society and Director of its Committee for Financial Management, Vice Chairman of the Advisory Committee of Chinese Academy of Management and Director of its Equity Investment Committee, and Advisor to China Banking Association and the Asset Management Association of China. In addition, he serves as Advisor  of China Trustee Association and Director of its Pension Trust Committee. With extensive experience in corporate governance, he was or is currently an independent or external director of several leading Chinese enterprises, including Ping An, SF Express, TCL Technology, Dacheng Fund, AIBANK, Guosen Securities, Zhongtai Securities, Yingda Trust, Haier Venture Capital, Oriza Holdings, Beijing Financial Holdings and Beijing Electronics Holdings.


Professor Jin obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Department of World Economics at Fudan University in 1992, and subsequently joined the faculty of the newly established Department of International Finance at the same institution. In 1994, he went abroad for further studies, and obtained a Ph.D. in Financial Engineering from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2001. His research areas include technology finance, pension finance, inclusive finance, digital finance, and family business governance and succession. His research has been recognized with numerous prestigious awards, including the FAME Research Prize, Best Paper Award of the Global Financial Association, Best Paper Award of the European Financial Management Association, the TCFA Best Paper Award, and the PanAgora Quantitative Research Award.
