SUSTech holds sixth Spring Couplet Calligraphy Festival

Recently, the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) held its sixth Spring Couplet Calligraphy Festival in Banyan Square. Calligraphers from Shenzhen Calligraphy Association were invited to write Spring Festival couplets for SUSTech members. Traditionally, Spring Festival couplets are posted on doors to express sincere blessings and good wishes.

Chairman and guests from Shenzhen Calligraphy Association, Vice Dean of the College of Art and Design of Shenzhen University, calligraphers, faculty members, students, and family members attended the event.

Fengliang LI, University Council Chairperson, Ling ZHANG, University Council Vice-Chairperson of SUSTech and Chairman of the Trade Union, and heads of relevant departments attended the event.

Chairperson Fengliang LI spoke at the event. In his remarks, he welcomed all guests and thanked the calligraphers for their continued support. He said that the Spring Couplet Calligraphy Festival has been held for the sixth time and has now become a tradition of the University to welcome the upcoming Spring Festival.

 

Zhan WANG, an undergraduate student from Zhixin College, said, “I am happy to participate in the Spring Couplet Calligraphy Festival event as it’s a great way to celebrate the upcoming holidays. It is an honor and a pleasure to be able to take part and be able to put my own couplet on my door.”

Xiaoting WANG, a staff member of the SUSTech Education Foundation, said, “Today is my second time participating in this event. I hope that everyone can feel the same joy as I do and celebrate the Spring Festival in advance.”

Calligraphers wrote hundreds of couplets and offered help to guests participating in the event. The activities were warmly welcomed among the faculty members and students as everyone sent warm wishes to each other as they prepared for the Lunar New Year, the Year of the Tiger.
